West Australia’s Kristina Krstic has shown her class and added another title to her name, winning the girls singles at the Australian Under 18 Championships at Broadbeach Bowls Club today, taking out the final 21-6 against fellow member of Team Henselite, Breeana Dickson (SA).
Krstic faced some tough opposition in her section, with the first round seeing her play current QLD Open Singles Champion Lisa Mitchell, before facing off against defending champion Carly Griffiths to seal her spot in the final.
Kristina bowled with Alpha bowls which she said were perfect for the very windy conditions in the final. “They took hardly any grass, so were not held out by the wind” she said.
Krstic burst onto the National scene with a win in the Grand Prix pairs at the 2009 NSW Open. It has been nothing but up for Krstic, as she earnt her spot in the State Side and was part of the Gold medal winning side at the National Championships.
2010 has been a year of resounding successes for the 16 year old star – Kristina was a member of the senior women’s state team that won the 2010 Australian Sides Championships and she has been promoted to Bowls Australia’s Silver Tier Squad. The latest singles title for Kristina compliments the bronze she won in the pairs on the day before!
Congratulations Kristina – 2010 National Gold Medal!
