On the 18th of November 2012, in the Clinical Center of Banja Luka Jelena Trikic(32) from Drvar passed away, a brave mother who fought a serious form of brain tumour and who decided to refuse chemotherapy so that she could give birth to a child.
Her wish was granted a couple of months ago when Jelena gave birth to a healthy boy named Nikola. Unfortunately, Jelena recently passed away and to honour her bravery an initiative has been undertaken to declare the day of her passing Mother’s Day in Republika Srpska, as well as to instate an award with her name as a shining example of motherhood.
It has also been suggested to the local government to secure assistance for little Nikola until he completes his education. The Holy Trinity Church in Perth will in this capacity offer its contribution and send its donation to those who are looking after him.
Donations will be collected until the 31st of December 2012 so that they can be handed over on the day of St Nikola. Your donations can be given to Momcilo Govedarica or Father Milorad Soaktar from the Holy Trinity Church in Perth, who will ensure the total sum is given to those who are looking after baby Nikola and will provide notification of its delivery.
